Aster Privacy Summary

Osmium account and message data
Aster is an independent third-party Android client for Osmium. When you use a live account, Aster connects to the configured Osmium service to sign in, synchronize conversations and communities, send and receive messages, manage read state, and transfer Osmium-hosted media.
Data stored on your device
Aster can store account-scoped conversation data, message history, drafts, read state, settings, media cache data, transfer-resume state, and an authorized session credential protected through Android security facilities. Local state supports offline startup, retries, resumable media, and session restoration.
Notifications
Aster can show Android notifications for incoming Osmium messages. Background notification delivery may use Aster-operated push infrastructure and Firebase Cloud Messaging as a wake mechanism, after which the app reconnects to Osmium to reconcile authoritative state. Message previews can be disabled.
External GIFs
When KLIPY GIF support is enabled, Aster contacts KLIPY directly for search, media loading, and share tracking. Those requests can expose normal network metadata such as your public IP address to KLIPY, and searches contain the terms you enter. KLIPY is a separate service with its own terms and privacy practices.
Analytics and advertising
The website does not include analytics or advertising code. Aster's final release disclosures should be updated if the Android application adds analytics, crash reporting, or advertising before release.
Independence
Aster is not the official Osmium application and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Osmium.
